Electrotherapy involves the use of a variety of different devices that deliver electrical impulses to the body via electrodes attached to the user's skin for purposes related to pain relief, tissue healing, nerve damage, injury treatment and rehabilitation. Considered a therapeutic modality for rehabilitation & intervention. Electrotherapy devices are used by physical therapists, occupational therapists, and wellness centres to treat patients to accomplish the following:
It is recognized as a clinically proven, effective, non-medication method of training muscle from certain causes. It is also free from side effects when used properly. The method is scientifically underpinned and medically approved.
TENS therapy has been used or is being studied to relieve both chronic (long lasting) and acute (short-term) pain. One theory is that the electric current stimulates nerve cells that block the transmission of pain signals, modifying your perception of pain. The other theory is that nerve stimulation raises the level of endorphins, which are the body’s natural pain-killing harmone. The endorphins then block the perception of pain.
It is a muscle electrostimulation technology that contracts the muscle with electrical impulses that stimulate the muscle to contract naturally, identical to that achieved with completely normal physical activity such as running, fitness, aerobics and other exercises. Namely, electro stimulators reproduce exactly the same physiological effects on the motor nerve as the brain, causing the muscle to contract. Used to manage pain, promote healing, and re-educate muscles toward return to function.
